Bear Lakes Middle Pre-Biotechnology logo

The  Pre-Biotechnology Academy at Bear Lakes Middle School is designed to enable middle school students to explore the connections between science content areas and the rapidly growing biotechnology industry. At the same time, students will learn the basic principles that form the foundation of biotechnology, and develop the knowledge and skills needed to ensure successful matriculation to high school. At the end of 8th grade, students will gain an understanding of the subject of Biotechnology combined with the medical field and will earn two (2) high school credits in the Science Electives

A career in biotechnology is booming, marked by rapid growth, continuous innovation, and a high demand for skilled professionals in areas like gene editing, AI in drug discovery, and bioinformatics. Exciting opportunities exist in diverse fields, from developing new medical treatments and technologies to improving agricultural and environmental practices. A strong job market, competitive salaries, and intellectual stimulation make biotechnology a promising and fulfilling career path for those with a scientific mindset and a willingness to adapt to emerging technologies.

Biotechnology salaries in the US vary significantly, but generally range from entry-level salaries of around $65,000 to experienced roles paying over $100,000 annually.
